  • RazoRock Stainless Steel Lupo 95 Double-Edge Razor (Safety Bar)

    PROUDLY MADE IN ONTARIO, CANADA

The original RazoRock Lupo was such a hit with our clients that we decided it was time to create a "gen two" version milled from marine-grade stainless steel. We listened to your feedback from the aluminum Lupo and took it to the design board to come up with a razor that is even better! The three most popular suggestions were; a) You wanted the razor to be able to rest on the side of its head while still keeping the guard width the same as the width of the blade for excellent maneuverability; b) You wanted more optionality in terms of aggression, and; c) Many of you suggested a scalloped bar would add a nice aesthetic touch!

We delivered on all three suggestions and now the RazoRock SS Lupo is NOW available in NINE different versions,

    1. Lupo 58 - a 0.58 mm safety bar
    2. Lupo OPEN COMB 58 - a 0.58 mm Open Comb for those seeking more aggression and efficiency - Same gap and exposure as Safety Bar 58 but will be slightly more aggressive due to the Open Comb design
    3. Lupo 72 - a 0.72 mm safety bar
    4. Lupo OPEN COMB 72 - a 0.72 mm Open Comb for those seeking a lot more aggression and efficiency - Same gap and exposure as Safety Bar 72 but will be slightly more aggressive due to the Open Comb design
    5. Lupo 95 - a 0.95 mm safety bar for those seeking a lot more aggression and efficiency
    6. Lupo OPEN COMB 95 - a 0.95 mm Open Comb for those seeking a lot more aggression and efficiency - Same gap and exposure as Safety Bar 95 but will be slightly more aggressive due to the Open Comb design
    7. Lupo DC - a 0.72/0.95 dual-comb version which offers a medium-aggressive open comb side and a more aggressive safety bar side.
    8. Lupo 127 - a 1.27 mm safety bar
    9. Lupo OPEN COMB 127 - a 1.27 mm Open Comb for those seeking a lot more aggression and efficiency - Same gap and exposure as Safety Bar 127 but will be slightly more aggressive due to the Open Comb design

Finish: Please note, these razors are tools, not jewels. We use a vibratory tumbling finish process that maintains the highest possible tolerances for the razors. This means the razors will not be mirror finished and will not be mark-free. The razors may have some milling marks or finishing marks. The razors can always be jewelry polished by the client later but our goal is to sell the razor at the best possible tolerances and lowest possible price. The metal-on-metal contact from the handle locking against the base-plate will create a ring mark on the base. It's common for handles to have micro dents from the tumbled finish.

      Head Weight: ~26 g (0.92 oz)

Handle Diameter x Length and Handle Weight:

      1. Bulldog, 13 mm x 90 mm, ~2.8 oz weight
      2. Super Knurl, 13 mm x 90 mm, ~2.9 oz weight
      3. HD, 13 mm x 82 mm (14 mm Butt End), ~2.6 oz weight
      4. UFO, 13 mm x 85 mm, ~2.3 oz weight
      5. Barber Pole, 12 mm x 85 mm (Approx. 14 mm Butt End), ~2.6 oz weight
      6. Titanium Halo, 13 mm x 100 mm, ~1.7 oz weight

*NOTE: If you are buying the Base Plate ONLY option for $37.99 USD, you will need to already have a Top Cap from this version of the Lupo. The Base Plates are not intended to be used with aluminum Lupo Top Caps or Taps Caps from the older DLC Lupo.

      Blade Gap: 0.95 mm

      Blade Exposure: Positive

Material: 316L Marine Grade Stainless Steel

      Build: Fully CNC machined

Finish: 3 stage, 24 hour, machine vibratory finish. It's important to note that our finish is designed to de-burr and make the pieces smooth with minimum effect on machining tolerances. It's a tool-like finish and not a mirror-type high polish; each piece is unique (no two pieces will be identical). We don't believe in hand polishing our machined safety razors because it's self-defeating. We spend so much time and effort getting the tolerances tight, a hand polish will just ruin these tolerances. We would rather give you a quality tool-like finish at a great price and leave it up to you if you want to put a jewelry type polish or gun-kote at the razor later at additional cost.

Other Details: Each razor is engraved with a unique serial number.

Blades: The Lupo 95 uses any standard double-edge blade(Blades sold separately). If you are unsure which blade to buy, try one of our blade samplers.  Click HERE to see all the options and then just click the BACK button to get back to this page.

      95 Safety Bar

My first Razorock was the GC .68-P. That replaced my Muhle when the chrome finally began flaking. I loved the GC 68-P for years, better than my Muhle by far. Then when traveling a ton for work I decided to buy a second GC for my travel kit. When I looked at Italian Barber the GC .84-P was on sale. I was hesitant to buy anything but a 68-P so I read the reviews that were positive. So I took a chance. I found the GC .84-P to be very smooth with more efficient to knock down my stubble. So I like it equally as well. On days where I have more stubble the GC .84-P is my go to. Then one day I see the Lupo. And I really wanted it because I thought it would perform like my Game Changers but perform better around my nose and ears. So I took the plunge and bough the Lupo .72-P with high hopes. But I found the 72-P to be rougher than my two GCs. And in between on efficiency. So it was a bit of a let down. Still a descent razor though. So finally to make the Lupo better I bought the .95-P base plate.

Update 7-1-25. After using the GC .84-P and Lupo .95-P for several shaves. I have the following thoughts:
      1. The Lupo may feel a tad rougher due to the scallop safety bar. You might be feeling the scallop grooves.
      2. It’s possible the scallops on the Lupo Safety Bar cause a bit more blade feel.
      3. The Lupo works great around the nose, lips and ears since the corners are milled out.
      4. The Lupo has great blade clamping bars milled into the head. I wish that GC had the same bars. Although the GC blade clamping has never given me issues.

I think they both provide a great shave that is nearly identical. So you can’t go wrong with either. If you love the GC .84-P then I think you’ll love the Lupo .95-P. I think you won’t like the Lupo .72-P as well as a GC .84-P. It won’t be efficient enough and you’ll wind up doing more touch up and that could cause more irritation.

Again the Razorock GC and Lupo are both very good Razors. If you buy one, you may wind up buying additional baseplates just to get the best match for your beard and stubble length.

      Don't fear the 0.95!

This is a "somewhat aggressive" razor. It probably shouldn't be your first purchase. I remember staring at the website options and thinking well maybe the 58 is aggressive enough.. Too mild I thought, the 72, well that's almost 3/4 of a mm of exposed blade. Yes, that's enough, added to the cart and off it goes.

When I received my order, I was a little perplexed, did I really order the 95? I'm pretty sure I bought the 72. Nope, order says the 95. Should I return it? It sat for a day while I contemplated my error. I mustered the courage to insert a Treet Black Beauty, which are fairly mild. I moved slowly with minimal pressure. Wow, I didn't need to do 3 passes as I do on my ECO. Extremely efficient. With the safety bar and a restrained blade choice, there is nothing to fear, I probably could have achieved the same with a 72 and more aggressive blade.

The 95 with a more aggressive blade - this is where the problems start. I think it was a NACET. These tend to flex a little more, generally nothing to be concerned about, but in a razor in tension with 1mm of blade being projected, it was irritiating and I saw capilliary sized blood spots where imperfections got in the way of it. Usable, but that was probably the limit.

The next day, I gave it the Facon and it was not good. I stopped shaving mid-way, which wasn’t really shaving at that point, I was just using it as a plainer as part of an unexpected exfoliation. It was more scraping than shaving on parts of my face not uniformly smooth, even with Cremo. I don't know what a Feather would have done, but I concluded a 95 w/ safety bar is pretty much the limit. Beyond that, just get your straight razor out. There will be blood.

      Shave carefully.

      Best razor I own

It's the only razor I own that gets the job perfectly done in two passes. It immediately became my favourite and I own a lot of razors

      Yep!!!

I've been a big fan of their GC84-P and have used it for several years thinking I don't really need another three piece. Well; that was then, and after reading up on the Lupo 95 I did exactly what you think i did. And after shaving with it a couple times I'm now thinking the GC84 may be getting a little more cabinet time b/c I really like this new Lupo. It performs exactly how I've seen it described. Aggressive; compared to the GC84 which is no slouch, but efficient and would echo what others have said about it not being a good shaver for those just getting started in their wet shaving journey. Pressure control, patience, and face knowledge will yield great worry free shaves with the Lupo 95.
