  • RazoRock BBS "A" Stainless Steel Double-Edge Safety Razor

    PROUDLY MADE IN ONTARIO, CANADA

What makes the RazoRock BBS safety razor so unique and wonderful? Our testers have told us the RazoRock BBS is the smoothest shaver they've ever used! We chalk this up to two reasons. Reason number one, the geometry of the BBS head puts more bend on the double-edge (DE) blade than any other safety razor we've ever used. This increased bend puts more torque on the DE blade making the blade edge more firm and rigid. All good razor designers know the secret to a smooth, irritation-free shave is a super thin and sharp blade that is held as rigid as possible! Reason number two, because of the geometry of the head, the shaving angle is decreased from the typical 45 degrees (angle of handle-to-face) to roughly 35 degrees for the RazoRock BBS. This allows the shaving angle to work better with gravity and the weight of the handle to guide the head more freely and intuitively across your skin.

Some people have asked, what is the significance of the BBS name? BBS is an acronym for BABY BUTT SMOOTH! I think that is pretty self-explanatory ;)

The RazoRock BBS safety razor is FULLY CNC MILLED from 316L (marine grade) billet and rod stainless steel at our machine shop partner in Ontario, Canada. We are VERY PROUD to offer you a razor of such high quality for an incredibly affordable price. This is a razor that will last many lifetimes if cared for and cleaned. Before you buy this razor, we ask you to do your research and see if you can find a razor of this quality for even double our retail price, we bet you won't!

    Available in 4 Options:

    1. Standard - Mild-Medium Aggression on our Razor Scale
    2. OC - Open Comb - Mild-Medium(Slightly More than the Standard) Aggression on our Razor Scale
    3. A - Aggressive - Medium Aggression on our Razor Scale
    4. AS - Aggressive Step - Medium-Aggressive Aggression on our Razor Scale

A note about finishing.  These razors are tools, not jewels. We use a vibratory tumbling finish process which maintains the highest possible tolerances for the razors. This means the razors will not be mirror finished and will not be mark-free. The razors may have some milling marks or finishing marks. The razors can always be jewelry polished by the client later but our goal is to sell the razor at the best possible tolerances and lowest possible price. The metal-on-metal contact from the handle locking against the base-plate will create a ring mark on the base. It's common for handles to have micro dents from the tumbled finish.

    Blade Exposure: Positive

Aggression Scale - A: Medium Aggression on our Razor Scale - The RazoRock BBS "A" is a more aggressive version of the RazoRock BBS. The geometry has been modified to increase the cutting efficiency while still maintaining the smooth shaving characteristics you've come to expect from the standard RazoRock BBS. If you use and love the BBS razor but have always yearned for a little added aggression, the BBS A will be the perfect plate to add to your collection!

    Fine Close Shave

Tried the BBS stainless (Standard) and liked it but still not the performer I was looking for. (my beard has a remarkably wild growth pattern, think cowlicks, so its difficult to get a two pass smooth shave). I bought the BBS-A on a flash sale. So glad I did. The BBS-A is just as easy on the skin as the Standard, but gives a noticeably closer shave. For the first time I can get a two pass baby smooth shave. Love this razor design. shout out to another reviewer that mentioned "riding the guard " with the BBS razor style and keeping the handle closer to parallel to the face to reduce the blade angle a bit more. That technique, with little to no pressure on the razor gets me clean and free of any irritation. Using any cheap blade I put in it.

    Exactly What I Needed.

I’m new to DE shaving - only about two months in to it. I also have sensitive skin and a coarse beard. This is the second razor I used and the difference is astounding! Paired with a Rapira Super Stainless, Proraso red preshave, and any quality soap or cream, I get the best shave since transitioning to DE razors. The shave is close, comfortable and irritation free! The best part is my face is smooth all day and night. Other blades and razor combinations were fine, but by the end of the day my face would start feeling warm and itchy. The nefarious 5 o’clock shadow would be insufferable. It’s not a problem now.

I’m so glad I went with the BBS A! I was a bit hesitant, but figured I could always buy the standard if needed. But I don’t need to. I found my razor. Thanks to the Razorock team. I enjoy my morning shave now, which I have to do every day. I can’t wait to try you other products.

Everything the BBS Standard Is and More Efficient

I have already reviewed the BBS Standard, giving it 5 well-deserved stars, and after the "A" plate was introduced, I decided to try it as well. At first, I thought this razor's apparent blade feel was too much for me, but I need to explain.

I have rather sensitive skin and prefer mild razors paired with very sharp blades. When I first used this razor, I did so with an unstropped Bic Chrome Platinum blade. Fresh from the wrapper, it's very nearly as sharp as the Feather (and it's even sharper than Feather on subsequent uses, holding its edge much better than Feather does.) Then I learned to palm-strop (rather than "cork") my very sharp blades, thereby smoothing out tiny burs and irregularities without dulling the edges.

Using a stropped Bic (or any other very sharp blade) in this razor, I am thoroughly delighted with its performance. With this little change, I have experienced all the benefits of the BBS Standard (which offers the efficiency of the Game Changer 68P) and the increased efficiency of the Game Changer 84P. With perhaps the exception of the Hawk v3 Standard, the BBS-A is now my favorite razor. I love both, preferring them to the Baby Smooth, Mamba, Game Changer, Rockwell, Occam, Timeless, AS-D2, and others I've used.
