  • Ever since RazoRock stopped producing the Captain's Choice Bay Rum shaving soap, we've been getting dozens of requests every month for a new bay rum product. The problem is, I'm not a fan of clove-y scents nor can my skin tolerate a lot of cinnamon in a soap or aftershave; I know, it sounds selfish but if I don't like a scent, I have a very hard time putting the RazoRock name on it.

    For the last two years, we been experimenting with different bay rums and in the spring of 2017 it finally hit me, why not produce a scent that is heavy is natural bay laurel extract and very light in spice. We tested a few variations and we fell in love with this one. Natural bay laurel has a sweet scent with just a touch of spice in the backdrop. This is a bay leaf scent for guys that typically aren't fans of American style bay rums. It's one of those scents where the more you use it, the more you can't go without it.

    Scent: A natural bay laurel scent.

    Size: 100ml (3.4 fl.oz) glass bottle with black plastic cap and comes equipped with a convenient flow restrictor insert, enabling easy application of the perfect amount of Aftershave Splash each and every time.

    Ingredients: Alcohol Denat, Aqua (Water/Eau), Parfum (Fragrance), Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Menthol, Dimethicolne Copolyol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool.

    very faint smell

    I ordered several RR aftershave splashes and in some, the scent was nonexistent. With this, I could smell something, but it wasn't anything like Captain's Choice, it wasn't all that pleasant and I don't even think it was Bay Rum. The smell was pretty faint and you had to wait a while for the Alcohol to blow off, to smell much of anything.

    Nice aftershave

    Splashing Black Bay on my face following a shave leaves my skin feeling really nice and refreshed. The fragrance is also very pleasant; however I am giving only 4 stars because the fragrance is very short lived. Smells very good upon application, but a few minutes later, my wife couldn't detect any fragrance at all. If it lasted a little longer, Black Bay would get 5 stars. In spite of the short life of the fragrance, I will buy again.

    The scent makes me happy and it works as an after shave.

    The aftershave is simply, a nice earthy bay laurel scent. I've made my own bay rum aftershave with added scents, but this one truly represents the bay laurel leaf. I bought a bay laurel plant and used the leaves for my aftershave. Great product, no fluff. The shaving soap matches perfectly.
