RazoRock Wunderbar Slant Razor
UPDATE: October 6, 2023 - NOW AVAILABLE! We have had so many customers ask for the Wunderbar to come back so we have decided to run a small batch of them for those who missed out when they were available.
RazoRock Wunderbar Slant Razor
The RazoRock Wunderbar is the next evolution of our slant razor product. Although we were very proud of our previous version, the RazoRock Stealth slant(the first machined slant ever produced), there were areas that needed improving on to achieve a slant razor we could be truly proud of. We wanted a razor that was machined from 316L stainless steel because of its hardness and corrosion resistant properties but machining such a complex part from 316L is no easy task; most machine shops asked us if we were insane! We also wanted to make the head much thinner, for easy shaving underneath your nose. The reduced weight from a thinner head would make the razor easier to control in stainless steel. What we have created, to us, is RazoRock's Masterpiece product!
We knew that for this razor we wanted the blade tabs to be covered. This meant that the machining tolerances had to be VERY accurate (read: no blade play). Without the blade tabs exposed, there would be no way to wiggle the blade into place, it had to be a perfect fit, every time. The head is machined to two-thousandths of an inch to achieve this; each top cap and base plate has to be mated together manually because the tolerances are so exact, even a thousandth of an inch here or there makes a difference. Each razor undergoes multiple blade tests (by ME), to ensure the tolerances are exact and the blades fit perfectly. One caveat, if you are using a blade with a lot of glue on it, I urge you to take the blade out after each shave. If you leave a blade with a lot of glue in the razor for days and weeks, the head will be difficult to disassemble because of the super tight tolerances (the glue will stick everything together).
The razor is finished using a 3 stage, 3 media, 24 hour, special vibratory tumble process. It's what's called a "Fine Finish", somewhere between a matte finish and a high polish finish. A lot of thought was put into the finish of the razor because we needed a process that would not change the ultra-tight machining tolerances and would also make the finish consistent throughout the entire head (both outside and underside). Hand polishing was not an option because too much material would need to be taken and it would cause major inconsistencies. Our finish gives the razor a nice "finished-tool like" appearance and also makes the head very easy to clean.
You can see that we priced the razor VERY aggressively. We are only able to do this because being sold direct-to-consumer for a very small profit.
Finish: Please note, these razors are tools, not jewels. We use a vibratory tumbling finish process which maintains the highest possible tolerances for the razors. This means the razors will not be mirror finished and will not be mark-free. The razors may have some milling marks or finishing marks. The razors can always be jewelry polished by the client later but our goal is to sell the razor at the best possible tolerances and lowest possible price. The metal-on-metal contact from the handle locking against the base-plate will create a ring mark on the base. It's common for handles to have micro dents from the tumbled finish.

*READ BELOW BEFORE PURCHASING:
NOTE 1: The Wunderbar head has a machine vibratory finish. A vibratory finish is not a high polished finish, it's smooth to the touch and tumbling marks are evident. The reason we use this type of finish is so we can maintain the tightest tolerances. Hand polishing can change the tolerances and the tightest tolerances are very important with this slant design. The tolerances of the Wunderbar are more precise than any other safety razor currently on the market!
USING THE WUNDERBAR: The 'key' to using the Wunderbar properly is to let the blade and the head design do all the work. You don't want to add any pressure on the skin. You want the guard to just lightly touch your skin as the hairs are efficiently sliced away. When you master the light touch, you will not find a better shaver!
