  • Proraso Shaving Soap Jar - Menthol and Eucalyptus-New Formula

Proraso Shaving Cream Soap will instantly transport you to a time when “The Barbershop” was a place for men to congregate and “shoot the breeze.”

Ludovico Martelli and his son Piero started the Proraso brand in 1948 in Florence, Italy, and for the past six decades Proraso products have been the lubricant of choice for millions of Italian Gentlemen and thousands of Italian Master Barbers. How can all these Italian men be wrong?

I believe the reason for Proraso's success lies in the formula. A glycerin based cream, enhanced with oils of coconut, eucalyptus and menthol, Proraso Shaving Cream Soap instantly provides an invigorating cooling sensation that both soothes and protects your skin and will really “wake you up” in the morning.

Proraso Shaving Cream Soap is made to use with a classic shaving brush. From my investigation, Italianbarber dot com has the best price in North America for Proraso Shaving Cream Soap so you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Based on the quantity we sell, Proraso Shaving Cream Soap is just as loved in North America as it is in Italy. Very highly recommended!

    Scent: Up-front eucalyptus/menthol.

    Size: 150ml "Ciotola" tub.

    Product of Italy.

Note: This is Italian product sourced from Italy so the packaging may differ from the Proraso typically found in North America.

    Wonderful Shave Soap

I was about to re-order my "usual" (more costly) whipped shaving soap when I happened upon a tub of Proraso while shopping and since it was of nominal expense, decided to give it a try. I found the quality in relation to it's cost outstanding. The scent light and refreshing, it lathers quickly, stays moist and lubricates well. Just an almond size dab suits my needs for an entire shave. I've been using Proraso shave soap for over a year now and have been very satisfied with the quality/performance. Long story short; I had been spending three times the money for a soap that performed no better than Proraso.
    Shame on me.

    Great Menthol soap

This soap is on $6 on sale. I try to keep this in mind when comparing it to a $40 soap.

This soap definitely hits far above its price. The cooling menthol is nice as I am shaving and the lather is great. I will say, I do find what other reviews have said to be true: It does dry on your face. But only if you did not add enough water to the lather. I find that on my third pass, I should add a few drops to make sure that it is fully hydrated.

Smell is excellent and I'm happy I picked up this budget soap that many rave about.

    Can I give two rankings?

I want to give this soap 3 stars and 5 stars. This soap is probably the best shave soap you can get off the shelf in Canada. It contains Menthol which not many other soaps do. It hasn't got super performance but is way better than the other stuff you'll find in Wal-mart or the drug stores (got mine at shoppers drugmart). I find the menthol really refreshing yet it does irritate some people. My experience is it has good face feel unless I let the foam sit on my face to soften my whiskers, then it starts to sting and I have to begin the shave. I do love the cooling and it is the one unique property about this soap that none of my others have. The smell is a nice kind of standard soapy fragrance which I don't mind. It gives a good shave, whips up a good enough lather, and it was a giant step in the right direction for me after using Wilkinson Sword from Walmart. So, there are many worse soaps out there and I give this a 5 for being the best in it's category. And certainly get a tub if you want that cool feeling on your face or if you don't have time to wait for shipping. However, when stacked against some of the other artisan soap available on this website, I'd have to rate it a 3. There are plenty of winners on this site more worthy of 5 stars and that cost the same or less. (Razorock or Italian Barber soaps are all competitively priced and lather better, are slicker, and you get your choice of fragrances.) So, 3 or 5 stars? You choose.

    My Favorite Shave Soap

Proraso Green is great shave soap, in spite of some of the negative reviews, it's awesome soap, I love it! Of all the soaps I've tried, Proraso is the easiest to lather, and a little swirled on a boar brush makes a ton of rich lather, enough for a comfortable three pass shave. And I love the barbershop menthol scent, very masculine. Proraso Green is my go to shave soap, best I've tried. And at IB, great price. I've ordered more, including the Proraso Red, can't wait to try it. And as far as it drying fast, I haven't had that problem.
