  • RazoRock FAUX HORN Plissoft Disruptor - Synthetic Shaving Brush

The latest addition to our RazoRock Plissoft shaving brush line is the FAUX HORN Disruptor. The same great Plissoft fiber found in our best-selling 24 mm Plissoft brushes but this one has a special heavy resin, faux horn handle, with a 22 mm knot. Perfect for those wet shavers seeking a smaller and more traditional knot size.  All the RazoRock Plissoft shaving brushes are vegan friendly and require absolutely no break-in period.

For over a year now, there has been a synthetic shaving brush that's been all-the-rage in the traditional wet shaving community and sells for between thirty and fifty dollars.  RazoRock has sourced the same knot and mated it to a heavy resin handle with our RazoRock name engraved on the base.  This brush is an absolutely joy to lather with and is uber soft on the face.  The weight and quality of the handle is going to blow you away at this price-point!

    Knot size: 22 mm x 57 mm

    Height: ~117 mm

    Weight: ~86 grams

    Great brush

Picked up this brush a few years back on a Black Friday sale. It's my go to brush 90% of the time. Very soft and produces a great lather with my RazoRock soaps.

No need for expensive brushes. This is all you need for a great shave.

    Pleasantly Surprised

I didn't expect the bristles to be so soft, or the handle to feel so nice. This is a steal for $13 and some change. However, synthetic brushes tend to absorb too much water (yes there is such a thing) and they have trouble holding onto it once you start applying the lather. I knew this going in, so I'm not going to knock off a star for that. I just wanted to try out a synthetic brush, as many people love them despite these qualities, but they aren't for me.

    Excellent Brush At Any Price!

I was pleasantly surprised by this brush! I knew it would work, but how well, I wasn’t sure. It whips up an excellent lather in a decent amount of time. Not only does it work great, it looks great and it doesn’t cost much to boot!

This brush is a no-brainer, if you are just starting out, don’t have much money or just looking for another brush to add to your collection, just buy this, you won’t regret it, I promise!

    First good brush

I'm new to wet shaving. I have a couple drugstore brushes. This was my first "real" shaving brush. So its hard to review. Its soft, holds water well and lathers great. Feels great on the face when lathering up. I will continue to get the Razorock brushes and other products - great value for the price.

    Disruptor is HUGE!!

I own three RR synthetic brushes, a Bruce, Keyhole and now Disruptor.

While the handle on the Disruptor is beautiful and extremely well executed (especially for a $10 brush!), it's enormous! this brush dwarfs my Simpson Colonel... and everything else in my collection for that matter, excepting the Yaqi Moka.

The knot seems to be identical to the Keyhole's, but the handle opening is drilled closer to the actual knot size (the Keyhole has a wider socket that allows the bristles to begin spreading before they leave the handle, essentially lofting the knot taller by a good margin), the net is that the Disruptor feels much more like the 24mm Bruce than the 22mm Keyhole as far as resilience and density... this is more to my taste for face lathering.

If you don't have an agenda when choosing a brush, this is one you really can't go wrong with, however for me the handle is almost comically enormous and the knot remains frustratingly, a bit too tall and/or not densely enough packed to be "just right".

Please RR, squeeze this bristle package down to a 20 or 21mm base and loft it 5 to 10mm shorter, then shrink the Disruptor handle to 3/4 size or put it in a Keyhole handle with a correctly sized socket. It's a great brush, but could be even better!

I know that picking apart a $10 brush on fine details is rude, but this series of brushes is so good on balance, that they deserve more knot size and loft variations, so an even wider audience can enjoy them without qualification!
