Almost as good as my "premium razors but for 1/4 the $

Don't be frightened by the "open comb", this is a great razor for novice and expert alike. The open comb is a bit more forgiving of shaving angle and it is not only wickedly efficient with most blades and soaps (in my hands) but it is very gentle. Just like its brother the 26C, which differs only in handle design, it is a wonderful and inexpensive DE razor. My Feather AS-D2 and my RazoRock Wunderbar Slant that cost me ~$130 each, does a better job but the cost 4 times as much and are a bit pickier of shaving angle. For me, Voskod, Gillette Nacet, Gillette Rubie, Bluebird, Kai, Feather, Bolzano and Treet Carbon blades work best. But YMMV.

    Plays well with all

The manufacture is not perfect...you may have to reseat your blades...but once you get it set, this razor is a joy. Plays well with my personna USA blues and feathers.
Really a solid daily driver type razor. You really have to force it to get it to cut you.
the only detrimental to that is, you may be forcing hard enough to get ingrowns, without getting cut.
I'd recommend a hot water cleaning weekly whilst changing blades.
I would recommend this over any Merkur for any new wetshave starter. Really a quality instrument you should own to start.
