  • Fatip Grande Double Edge Safety Razor - Nickel (Nichelato)

The Fatip Grande Safety Razor is a beautifully finished 3 piece razor, which features piped detailing running down the length of the handle to a knurled base which allows you to twist the handle to release the head. A hollow handled lighter weight razor with the weight evenly distributed along its length, achieving a well-balanced easy to use razor. The open comb head ensures that the razor will work well with differing lengths of beard growth. These Razors are available in 4 finishes: Nickel, Chrome. Gold Effect and the new Gun Metal Black. A fabulous looking razor with great performance at an affordable price.

The production of the razor today known as FATIP began in Milan in the 1950’s. Due to financial problems, the original manufacturer was bought out by an artisan scissor manufacturer. They took over the machinery and materials and continued the production for a few years then suspended it. It was only in the 1980’s, with innovative equipment and processes, that manufacturing started again and the FATIP brand was re-launched from the original designs. The quality & performance of the product was greatly improved, while maintaining the distinctive characteristics of the razor. Today Fatip is renowned and loved the world over for its style, handling and precision which combine with ease of use and inherent safety. It has been stated that Fatip is an excellent example of the “Made in Italy” brand and an ambassador of the “Art of Shaving” throughout the world.

All the Fatip Double Edge (DE) Safety Razors have the characteristic “open comb” head that made these products so special and famous all around the world.

How to Use: The FATIP Razor head is released by unscrewing the handle and lifting the cover to insert the blade. Slot the head cover back in place, screw and tighten the handle ensuring that the blade is in place and you're ready to go - Simple!

Purchased as an intrem replacement for the the perfect Gillette old type long comb razor lost, with the rest of my luggage, between Maui and Oahu. Not a flawless finish like some other potential choices but, like the old Gillette, it is adjustable to a degree. The more you tighten the ultra thin new blade down over the curved head, the less aggressive th blade exposure. Thick blades in the old days were what cracked the handle tube on the 20’s razors that Gillette marketed as adjustable. They were. This is. And a partial turn over a premium blade does make a difference. Not picky about blades either. Have tried several with remarkably similar result. Great sweet spot and, you will check more than once to see if you have forgotten the blade. The toothed comb is not just for long stubble shaving either. Those of us with faces that have “suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” or just age lines and wrinkles are the true beneficiaries. The Fatip has heavy ends on the comb giving extra protection from the usual bumps. Built to last. Easy does it. Light touch. Twiddle with the tightness a bit and listen for that perfect scritch of close beard removal. So, until I find another perfect Gillette old type, the Fatip will be the one to get it Smooth......... Do your face an old school favor.
There really should be dozens of reviews. Do some Videos or something,,,, Ge the word out. The Fatip Grande is a Monster price bargain too.

    New favourite razor

I just got it a few days ago, it's excellent!

The plating isn't perfect as other reviewers note but it's a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I really like the way it looks overall as well, it's a beautiful, all brass razor.

It's noticeably more agressive than my other razors, which are the razorock heavy duty and jaws, but I like it that way (though not everyone does). It's a very smooth and efficient shave.

I was also concerned that the hollow handle would make it feel cheap or too light but this wasn't the case for me, I do prefer solid handles I think but this still has a good weight to it.

Overall, 5 stars because it's a beautiful all brass razor for only $30, it shaves wonderfully and is fun to use.
