  • Fatip Grande Double Edge Safety Razor - Chrome (Cromato)

The Fatip Grande Safety Razor is a beautifully finished 3 piece razor, which features piped detailing running down the length of the handle to a knurled base which allows you to twist the handle to release the head. A hollow handled lighter weight razor with the weight evenly distributed along its length, achieving a well-balanced easy to use razor. The open comb head ensures that the razor will work well with differing lengths of beard growth. These Razors are available in 4 finishes: Nickel, Chrome. Gold Effect and the new Gun Metal Black. A fabulous looking razor with great performance at an affordable price.

The production of the razor today known as FATIP began in Milan in the 1950’s. Due to financial problems, the original manufacturer was bought out by an artisan scissor manufacturer. They took over the machinery and materials and continued the production for a few years then suspended it. It was only in the 1980’s, with innovative equipment and processes, that manufacturing started again and the FATIP brand was re-launched from the original designs. The quality & performance of the product was greatly improved, while maintaining the distinctive characteristics of the razor. Today Fatip is renowned and loved the world over for its style, handling and precision which combine with ease of use and inherent safety. It has been stated that Fatip is an excellent example of the “Made in Italy” brand and an ambassador of the “Art of Shaving” throughout the world.

All the Fatip Double Edge (DE) Safety Razors have the characteristic “open comb” head that made these products so special and famous all around the world.

How to Use: The FATIP Razor head is released by unscrewing the handle and lifting the cover to insert the blade. Slot the head cover back in place, screw and tighten the handle ensuring that the blade is in place and you're ready to go - Simple!

    Better than expected

For a $25 open comb, I was expecting something harsher than what I got. Although there is lots (a full 1/8th inch) of blade exposed it really didn't bite me very much at all. I am not the most experienced wet shaver but it seemed very forgiving anyway. I shave my head with it, against the grain, and nothing but joy. The only complaint I would have is a little more blade play than I would like during assembly as one has to pay attention to edge alignment while tightening down or risk an unholy amount of exposed blade in one corner (play amounts to 1/32" before being snuggrf up). Small potatoes to a group of people I imagine are more attentive than the average shaver. All said, great shave, small price.

    Nice, but aggressive

If you can handle a R41, then you can handle this. In my opinion its just as aggressive. I like the old-school open comb look of the Grande. If you think the R41 is too rough, then I would stay away from this and look at the Merkur open combs or the RR DOC.

    Fantastic razor!

After deciding that I needed a more aggressive razor (shimmed DE89 just wasn't cutting it...literally), I decided to buy a Fatip Grande due to the great reviews on the web. Although the finish isn't as pretty as the DE89, it shaves far better for me. Loaded it up with an Israeli Personna, and was a little worried about the considerable blade exposure at first, but after doing my usual prep and lathering up with Proraso white soap, I started in on it...smooth as can be. Not a single weeper or any irritation, and was thrilled that I could finally go against the grain on my neck without any tugging. I'd highly recommend this razor to anyone who has a tough beard and fairly sensitive skin.
