  • RazoRock American Barber now uses are RazoRock Super Formula which includes Shea Butter, Argan Oil, Aloe Vera and Lanolin, for unmatched post-shave and razor glide!

RazoRock American Barber has been a project of ours for over two years. The scent is inspired by the now discontinued YSL Rive Gauche per homme. I know what you are thinking... there are already two companies that make a Rive Gauche inspired shaving soap. The reason it took us over two years to make this soap is because I wanted a truer version of Rive. I tried two fragrances houses and both sent me samples that were really good and very close, but we wanted something better and more authentic. We finally bit the bullet and commissioned the fragrance from a luxury French house and they nailed it. To keep the scent unaltered, we paired it with my favorite RazoRock lanolin soap base. RazoRock American Barber brings you exceptional shaving performance with a scent reminiscent of the a vintage American Barbershop. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    Size: 150 ml (5 fl.oz)

Tips: Best used with a traditional shaving brush. If you've never used a shaving brush before I highly recommend one of our RazoRock Plissoft brushes, they are easy to use, require no break-in, dry quickly, are super soft, and produce a monster lather.

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Water(Eau), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Potassium, Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydrogenated Lanolin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea)Butter Fragrance(Parfum), Argania Spinosa (Argan)Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Extract(Aloe).

    American Barber Shave Soap

I didn't care for the scent of the soap and the matching aftershave splash on initial sniff. After a couple uses I began to really like it. It reminds me of men from previous generations that would start their own businesses rather than take employment for a wage. American Entrepreneur would be a good alternate name. The soap base is typical Razorock exceptional quality. Just make sure to add plenty water. I broke out the Clubman Pinaud Whiskey Woods and pondered which soap to use. I figured this soap should work well. I was blown away at the result. The two products work wonderfully together. It took me back to 1974 sitting in Do Pope's barbershop.

A very good wet shave soap.

This extremely reasonably priced soap whipped lather easily. The lather was slick, and after three passes left my skin smooth and hydrated.

The scent is pleasing, however the scent does not evoke an 'American Barbershop" scent to me, albeit aroma recognition is a personal experience.

All in all, it is a fine wet shave soap.

    Great soap, interesting scent

I find that all RazoRock soaps perform beautifully. American Barber is no exception. That scent, though....it's hard to describe. Imagine being in a barber shop in the middle of the last century....the smells of Barbicide, hair tonic, baby powder, a touch of tobacco smoke and finally, the wildcard -something the younger generation wouldn't recognize....the pile of moldering magazines stacked here and there. It all combines for a really interesting scent that I like but there's a funk that bumps me a bit. No worries, thought. The scent doesn't linger, and you go on with your day. Certainly worth a try-you might really like the funk!

    Great Shave and Scent

This is one of my favorites. Lathers up quite nice and it is slick. Leaves my face nice and smooth. The scent is Barbershop alright, and it does linger on for a couple of hours. I will purchase the aftershave that goes with it.
