  • RazoRock Mentor Double Edge Safety Razor

FOUR HANDLES TO CHOOSE, USE THE DROP DOWN.

RazoRock's mandate (Our Mandate) is to bring unparalleled value to the traditional wet shaving community and that's exactly what you have here.  The Mentor Double Edge head is a step up in aggression from the head you'll find on our Protege razor.  It's a design for the more experienced DE shaver that has already developed a skilled hand.  I would rate it 8 our of 10 on my personal razor aggression scale.  If you are an experienced traditional wet shaver you will really appreciate the efficiency of this design, it will provide a close shave even after just one pass.  The Mentor head comes mated to our RazoRock knurled handle machined from solid 316L stainless steel rod. At under $20, you won't find a better deal in the Double Edge Safety Razor market.

Weight: 3.1 oz / ~88 grams (Bulldog handle)

    Head Material: Chromed Zinc Alloy

Handle Material: Polished 316L Stainless Steel

    Handle Diameter x Length:

    1. Bulldog, 13 mm x 90 mm, ~2.8 oz weight
    2. Super Knurl, 13 mm x 90 mm, ~2.9 oz weight
    3. HD, 13 mm x 82 mm (14 mm Butt End), ~2.6 oz weight
    4. UFO, 13 mm x 85 mm, ~2.3 oz weight

What makes this razor so special:

    1. Machined 316L stainless steel handle, 85 - 90 mm length (Choose your handle option), versus our competitors who give you a hollow handle that is made with lower quality material

    2. REAL & DEEP knurling on the handle, giving you a sturdy grip with wet hands.  Our competitors use a “knurl looking” pattern that does not offer the same amount of grip.

    3. SOLID WEIGHT, 3.1oz, preventing razor skipping and jumping

    4. High quality chroming that offers a smooth and mirror finish; allows the razor to be quickly and easily cleaned

    5. SUPERIOR BALANCE!  2:1 handle-to-head weight ratio, that makes the razor easy to control and effortless to shave with

    6. The BEST VALUE of any double edge safety razor in the world

    7. Replacement blades only cost 10 to 15 cents each, when purchased in bulk packs.

I'm not the type of guy who posts reviews often; but after my first shave with the RR Mentor, I have to give credit where it's due. The only flaw this thing has is the blade alignment and it's a five second fix that's well worth tolerating for the quality shave you get from this razor. I have sensitive areas on my neck that always show signs of irritation no matter what razor I use, except this one. Best shave I've ever had, and I've tried all of the well known aggressive and efficient razors out there from vintage slants and adjustables to their modern counterparts. My go-to's were a vintage 37c slant and a Gillette slim adjustable, but from now on it'll be the Mentor. Do yourself a favor and spend the $20.

    Perfect Price Point

It's a great razor for the money. But, the blade alignment is definitely an issue. Granted, it's a problem easily fixed and I have higher priced razors which also require adjustment. Yet, I also own higher priced razors that line up perfectly every time - one of which can be had for a mere six dollars more.

But, hey! The handle is great! And, with it's standard thread, can be used with the head from most any manufacturer.

You need the right level of aggressivness

Hello. I just started shaving with a safety razor within the last month. I bought the oil and the soap and a Jagger safety razor. No matter what, I could not get a close shave. I was getting frustrated. Then I got reading about different levels of aggressiveness. I thought I'd give it a shot and after reading good reviews about the Razorock Mentor, I ordered one. Well, it changed everything! Right from the first shave the experience was excellent. I've now got a dozen shaves in and every one has been very satisfying. Highly recommend the Mentor razor if you're currently not getting a close shave. I have no issues with blade alignment.

I can't say enough good things about this Mentor head. You need to be purposeful with the blade alignment, but that's a 2 second operation. I'm getting the best shaves I've ever had with this Mentor head and Feather blade. I haven't reached for any other razor for going on 2 months; the rest of my razors are just collecting dust. For me this is a perfect balance of aggression and comfort.

    Love this razor

This is the second RazoRock I've purchased, and I've been very happy with it. This is certainly more aggressive than the Protege, which I also own, but not in a bad way. The consistent shave I get is confidence inspiring. While I haven't tried a lot of the other razor brands out there, at this point I really don't feel the need as this razor does the job and does it well.
