    A dull and scrapy shave

These will get the job done, but not in a very efficient manner. The blades are not sufficiently sharp. They do not provide the precision slicing action that makes wet shaving so satisfying, As a result I have to press a little harder with my Merkur 34C to get a close shave, sometimes resulting in knicks. Not recommended.

    Surprised (and happy)

Didn't expect much from these, as I had read reviews saying they didn't give a very close shave. However, I've been getting decent to very nice three-pass shaves (with a Muhle R89 Grande), and they don't slice me up around my Adam's apple like some others (Wilkinson). I have a full beard (not brillo, but not soft, either), so it's a little hard to gauge how many "complete" shaves someone else might get with the Derbys, but I've gotten about eight good three-or-four pass shaves on one blade, including one shave with a two week beard (ain't the flu grand?). These and the Muhles I got with my razor are my favorites so far.

    Great shaves, good value

I have an average beard and sensitive skin, especially on my neck. Derby Extra is my everyday blade. Tried many other brands, but always return to Derby. For me smoothness is more important than sharpness. I get smooth BBS shaves every morning with Derby, even with my Razorock Old Fashioned Open Comb. Great for beginners. When IB stocks the new Derby Premium I'll try these too.

    Derby extra

Not the sharpest blades but they are super smooth. Beginners friendly, you can't really nick yourself with those.

    Derby blades

Not my favorite but they work in all my razors and don't tear my face up. The sound they make is louder than Astra or Personna. I take that to mean they aren't quite as sharp, but they might be tuned for that sound, like a Harley!
